Why should you test?
Sexual health testing is essential because many infections can be silent—showing no
symptoms for months or even years—yet still cause serious long-term complications or
be passed on to partners. Chlamydia trachomatis often symptomless but can cause
infertility, pelvic pain, and complications if untreated. Neisseria gonorrhoeae
(Gonorrhea) Can lead to infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and joint problems if
not detected early. Syphilis (Presence in lesion or urine) A serious bacterial infection
that progresses in stages; untreated, it can damage the heart, brain, and nerves. HIV 1 &
2 Abs/p24 Ag. Early detection is critical for treatment, long‑term health, and preventing
transmission.
